Worried ~~

December 1, 2019

Hi everyone...   Lisa again.......

Well Tuesday Lolita goes to the Vet for Blood Work and a Needle Biopsy of the Lump on her neck..
This past couple weeks have been super hard..
Some ups and downs as well....

After leaving Lolita's appointment on the 20th I was so upset, worried and scared......
As much as Paul tried to tell me to relax and not worry I just couldn't stop.....

The Vet had me take Lolita off her Apoquel for her Allergies.  They are finding that it can cause cancer, or accelerate cancers in dogs.. So if you are using it.. I high recommend talking to your Vet about it..
So a day after she was off it, she began itching like crazy.  I tried OTC stuff.. but it just doesn't help...
I talked to the Vet and she Prescribed  Prednisone for her..

After a day or so the itching did  slow way down..  HOWEVER.. if you've ever given your dog this drug you know it has 3 big side effects..

#1  Excessive Panting
#2   Increased thirst
#3    More peeing

Number 2 & 3, altho a bit annoying are easily dealt with..
However ~~~   Lolita has the beginning of  Laryngeal Paralysis....
So she has a tendency to cough a bit.. AND this condition gets worse when she is overly excited... OR pants alot...
SO.. now she is coughing like a seal every time she moves around too much...
Its distressing for us AND for her..

About 6 or so days ago I noticed that Lita's lump seemed a bit smaller... I wasn't really sure about it.. so I didn't say too much.. but after another day or so it was Indeed smaller!!

I was SOOO happy...  I couldn't believe it. I was thinking..
The Vet must of been right when she first saw her.. it is just some sort of "infection" that got down into her Lymph Node and it just took a bit longer to start to drain out..
I felt like a huge weight had been lifted off my chest......
I started to relax a bit....

Well ~~ Saturday  (while checking to see if the Pred. could make Lita cough as a side effect) I happened to see that Prednisone given to dogs with Tumors..  (Especially lymph node ones) usually shrank in size...  Because prednisone reduces swelling......................
I was CRUSHED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Here I thought my beautiful girl was getting better....  but then I find out its probably just from the medication.... I cried and cried.. I felt sick all day on Saturday....

I also read that dogs that are not treated in ANY way that have Lymphoma   (which is what she thinks Lita has)  usually only live 3-6 weeks..   WEEKS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
If treated only by basic methods.. the life expectancy is 2-4 Months...........   :(
If treated with Chemo and better methods..  13-18 Months..
This made me cry so hard too!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I don't even wanna think about my sweet girl being gone in a couple months!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I am So worried about Tuesday!  I just feel like I have a huge truck parked on my chest...
My head hurts and my heart is aching.. My stomach has this huge knot in it.....

Please Please pals..
Please say some extra prayers for Lolita the next couple of days...
Please pray that this is NOT cancer!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I am terrified!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I don't know if I will be able to handle this if she is really sick..
We've had so many hard times the past 2  yrs and I just don't know if I am strong enough
Please pray to give me the courage and strength to fight along with Lita if she has to fight.............
Thank you so SO much!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

In the mean time Lolita continues to eat great and beg for treats.. She is going potty fine.. No tummy troubles....
She is eager to  go for rides and go to the park...
So that is good!!

I will update her Blog on Tuesday or Wednesday.
I hope I have some at least sorta positive news.
I am not sure how long the Test results will take exactly...

Thank you for listening.. I am sure your tired of hearing me go on and on.. but writing helps alot...

Much Love.... Lisa ~~
